Only Two Days Left!

February 19th is the big day! It’s the day I’ll be flying to Shanghai to study abroad for a semester. Good thing I’m spending my winter break in Korea right now so my flight will only be for two hours. My unpacked suitcases are starting to make me feel anxious but two days should be enough to get everything ready. I trust my packing skills that I’ve polished through my numerous trips back and forth between Korea and the US.

From what I’ve experienced so far, packing to move into a new place is not so hard compared to packing to move out. When you’re moving in, you just need to bring everything you think you might need for however long you're staying. For me, that’s my seven sweaters, five pairs of jeans, five pairs of shorts, ten t-shirts, three coats, three skirts, two dresses, two jackets, and more clothes. Of course, other essential stuff including shoes, books, notebooks, toiletries, cosmetics, blankets, cookies, sewing kit, jewelries, stickers, and many more will fill up my other huge luggage. As you can imagine, it’s when you’re moving out and you’re trying to pack everything you’ve brought from home PLUS new stuff that you’ve acquired during your stay into the same size suitcases that it really gives you a headache. Nevertheless, that headache’s not scheduled for another four months. I know I sound like the worst packer, but trust me, it’ll all work out.

I want to end this post with a brief introduction about myself for those who are wondering who I am. My name is Yesol Park and I’m an international student from Korea. I’m a junior at University of South Carolina, double majoring in International Business and Marketing and minoring in Chinese Studies. I began taking Chinese in my freshman year of college and I’d say I’m still a beginner (considering how many years it took me to reach this level of English). So I hope to present to you with some laughable episodes about my poor Chinese and show you how I gradually become more confident in speaking the language in my four months of study at Fudan University in Shanghai.

More adventure stories from China are coming soon!
Until then,
再见(zaijian; bye)!
